My name is
Silvia Alcalde Peña
Hello, welcome to the holistic health center MatrixNatur. My name is Silvia Alcalde Peña, I am 46 years old, born in Spain, and I am the founder of this center.
I grew up in a typical Spanish upper-middle-class family. My mother suffered from depression and had trouble sleeping since I was born. I soon discovered that my task, or rather, the best thing I could do at that time, was not to disturb my mother. This turned out to be a gift for me. I could only receive this gift when the definitive healing of this set of experiences related to my mother occurred. Sometimes, life offers gifts in the form of painful experiences, but we don’t receive them until we accept the gift and stop blaming the situation, the person, or God.
Now I can speak about these gifts with a heart full of gratitude towards life and my mother. One of the most important gifts I received through my mother’s depression was the type of relationship I established with God from a very young age. This happened thanks to my two grandmothers who spoke to me about the great love of God.
Since I couldn’t disturb my mother at all, I spent hours and days playing alone, but I wasn’t alone; I played with my imaginary friends. When something happened or I was afraid, you can imagine who I asked for help: I asked for help from my guardian angel. I always asked my grandmother to tell me stories from the Bible and also stories of children saved by guardian angels.
Stories like “Little Red Riding Hood” or “Snow White” were also appealing to me, but especially at night, I wanted to hear stories of angels or from the Bible before going to sleep. I had this privilege only when I stayed overnight at my grandmother’s house, which was very frequent and I loved it. I felt that my grandmother Paquita also loved my presence there, which was a wonderful and comforting feeling. Apart from this, no one told me stories at home.
Later, I began to hear that God punished us, and this was something that confused me a lot when I was little. That wasn’t the experience I had of God, and it didn’t make sense for God to love us but also punish us. When I later learned that the Inquisition burned women and men in the so-called “Witch Hunt,” it hurt me so much that I internally separated from the church.
In fact, I asked my father to take me out of the religion class. This was not easy to achieve, but in the end, he respected my decision, and I got his authorization to switch to Ethics class.
Adolescence
My relationship with God remained intact; the only difference was that I no longer belonged to any religion, although I must admit that sometimes I felt guilty. The wound of guilt is very common on this planet, regardless of religion, creed, or lack thereof.
In my adolescence, I was passionate about reading books about the human mind, spirituality, and philosophy. I read hundreds of books on these topics. At that time, it was not easy to find books on personal growth and spirituality in Granada, my hometown.
At the age of fifteen, I began to have my first experiences with meditation, which I discovered through my study of Hinduism and Buddhism. At this age, I practiced meditation during the siesta time in Spain. Hinduism and the “non-theistic” Buddhism opened new paths for me.
These religions spoke, among other things, about the power of mastering the mind, and I realized that the Christian religion also talks about it, especially in the New Testament. However, the difference is that the Christian religion attributes these abilities only to Jesus, the son of God, and does not offer practical exercises for their development.
In my adolescence, I also realized that religions give messages in the form of metaphor. I think we all know this. I also realized that, in the end, we are all part of the same family, and we don’t think so differently.
My Time at University
At the age of 19, in 1996, I enrolled in the Faculty of Psychology. However, once there, I realized that such a scientific approach was not what I was looking for. I discovered that science was limited by what technology could make visible at that time. Almost nothing of what I had read in my books about spirituality applied to the field of personal evolution and healing was studied in the psychology degree.
I was indignant, for example, that what was behind the placebo effect was not studied. I didn’t understand why the vast majority of research in the health field was dedicated to discovering new medications, even though we had discovered the placebo phenomenon, responsible for a percentage of the study samples healing or improving without the need for medication.
The placebo effect was one of the first things mentioned in the psychology degree, as well as the power of suggestion. But until now, almost the only thing done with these extraordinary phenomena is to name them and let them be, despite being a wonderful demonstration of our power to heal at all levels.
Personally, I’m glad that Newton didn’t do the same when he discovered the existence of gravity. Imagine what we could do if we scientifically understood the force/ability behind the placebo effect and learned to activate this force at will, using it with the goal of healing.
Two years after starting my studies in psychology and a bit disillusioned with the chosen career, I decided to change and study social work.
My start as psychotherapist
During my university years, I decided to volunteer a few hours a week at the educational and psychotherapeutic center for families affected by addictions, “Proyecto Hombre” (Project Man). Years late, in 2006, while still doing this volunteer work, Proyecto Hombre offered to cover the cost of my therapist training and hired me as a therapist while doing it, an offer I accepted with great joy.
At Proyecto Hombre, I had the opportunity to lead family therapy, couples therapy, individual therapy, therapy in the field of sexuality, healing therapy, and trauma confrontation therapy, among others. I also led self-help groups and educational seminars for those affected, as well as for their family members and partners. Through these experiences, I learned something very important: the problems faced by families and couples affected by drugs are the same problems that anyone could confront, such as communication issues, setting boundaries, self-esteem, etc. The difference lies in the “solution” that those affected apply to these problems (i.e., substance use or other forms of addiction).
I realized that the “problem” is rarely the real problem, regardless of its nature.
The methods that have most impacted me in terms of speed and effectiveness, are the ones I work with today : the Systemic Method, Psychokinesiology, and Thetahealing.
My goal has always been to create an approach that combines spirituality and science, incorporating aspects of traditional scientific psychology and spiritual or energetic healing. This fusion guides my sessions, tailored to the individual needs of my clients.
Currently, I no longer work as a psychotherapist. Instead, I work as a coach and systemic companion, as well as a kinesiologist. When a disease presents itself, I treat it using my methods of energy healing, such as ThetaHealing.
I have always had the goal of developing an approach that integrates spirituality and science, considering both aspects of traditional scientific psychology and spiritual or energy healing. I achieve this in my sessions through Quantum Psycho-kinesiology, which is a fusion of the aforementioned techniques, adapted to the individual needs of my clients.
